Triste/Feliz

TRISTE:

We miss Vanessa very much (well, just me and Daniel). My mom offered to take Vanessa for a couple of days so I can give Danny ALL of my attention and potty train him. I started a couple of days ago but I wasn't very consistent with it. It was really hard to be by his side all day long, to follow him wherever he went and honestly I got tired of staring at his thing. How was I suppose to do all of that when I also had Vanessa crawling and crying for attention, I had meals to make, dishes to wash, laundry to do... anyways, you get my point. So when my mom called me up on Monday, I said YES! And now I miss her very much. On the other hand, Danny has been the HAPPIEST boy I have ever met since Ne left with Abuelita. The change is pretty incredible, he is usually a happy boy but... WOW! And I am sure Vanessa is also having the time of her life. My mom dropped her off for an hour today so she could run an errand and boy was she wrong when she thought she could have everything she wanted just like at Grandma's house. The poor girl left a little traumatize because Danny did not obey her every demand. So after an hour or more of seeing Vanessa constantly starting fights with Danny and seeing her rolling on the floor because she was so upset about something/anything, I was a little glad my mom came back to get her because there is still lots of more potty training to do, and there is no way I could do it with both kids pulling my arms and legs, so thank you mom!
I am wondering thought if Danny isn't ready yet because when he does pee his undeware, he is totally fine with it, doesn't do any weird gesture, doesn't tell me, and he just goes on and keeps doing whatever he was doing before he wet himself. So he is totally comfortable with wet undies.... I know I need to be persistent but I can't help but wonder if it's the right timing or not.

FELIZ:

I was on the internet looking at Peruvian dishes I could make this week and just in case I googled to see if there were any Peruvian restaurants in Colorado Springs ( I checked a year or two ago and there was only some in Denver), and YES!, there is in fact a restaurant in C S. So I am so pumped to go try their food, I am a lot more excited now to go away for the Holidays.

Cuties in pajamas

Black Friday was insane! I went to Walmart at 11pm thinking that would be early enough (the advertisement in the mail said they would open at midnight). When I got there almost the entire parking lot was full! my dad drop my sister Melanie and my brother and I at the door and like a trooper that he is, he left to go find a spot to park the car. People started grabbing things 15 min. before midnight, employees were trying to push people back and screaming "it's not midnight yet!", but it was too late, people were going insane. I was at the toy section, were all the CRAZY moms were. I heard yelling, screaming, swearing, it was so intense. Luckily I got all the things I was looking for, it only cost a bloody finger and some dude totally elbowed me on purpose! Anyways, I didn't get home until 2:20am. My Dad got Danny spongebob pajamas (only $4!) and I got Ne a couple of things for her B-day, so here they are wearing their cute new pajamas.

Potty

We started to potty train Danny yesterday. Um.. he never once peed in the toilet, we did get a couple of undies wet and.... poopy. So even thought that was a blast, I am thinking of hiring someone to do this for me (if only).

On a different, more POSITIVE note: Danny LOVES his sister very much.

My new Holiday

So, I was thinking the other day, that I really got to make "Thanksgiving Day" my new holiday. Let me explain, even though I have lived in the US for almost 10 years, the only holiday I thought we had in common was Christmas. Even during Easter, we don't go on a hunt for fun easter eggs, it's actually a day where catholics walk in the streets all day with big pictures and monuments of Jesus, they are all dressed in purple and most people are holding candles.

SO, even Thanksgiving Day didn't really feel like a holiday that I felt like I could be a part of. I almost thought it was silly that people needed a holiday to be grateful for what they have. Nevertheless, I absolutly think it is a marvelous holiday, people are getting together with long distance families just for this day. My husband gets a couple of days off from work! which means I will have extra help for a couple of days with the kids, hooray! it might not feel like it's my holiday to celebrate, but I have decided that I better make the effort to do so because, I have a husband and two children that are from here, it is their holiday and I want them to be excited and celebrate all the important or silly hodidays this country might give them (St. Patricks day.. pinch each other unless you are wearing green?? come one). I may not have any Thanksgiving decorations at home but we will be getting together with family and eating lots. It was a mutual decicion when we all decided that we are not eating turkey, we are having TAMALES! YUM. The funny part of that is that it was the guys who actually came up with the idea: my husband and my two brother in laws (who are all Americans) Of course, we didn't arguee, we would take tamales over turkey any day! :)

So here are a few things that I am very grateful for:
My husband Daniel, I LOVE him more everyday.
My children, they are the best gifts my Heavenly Father could ever give me.
My parents, who taught me since I was young about things in life that really matter, like LOVE, the GOSPEL, and FAMILY.
My country. My heart will always be in Peru.

And then, there are some unimportant things that I am very grateful for also, like:
Makeup!, bras, nail polish, the gym!, cable, internet, cellphones, you name it.
WE HOPE YOU ALL HAVE A VERY HAPPY HOLIDAY!

22!

This B-day was very interesting this year, for the last couple of B-days I never felt a year older, I always thought of myself as a 18 or 19 year old girl, because I feel like as soon as Daniel and I got married, my life got so busy, married at 18, Danny was born when I was 19, Had Vanessa a month after I turned 21. BUT at the same time I feel like I am 40 years old! how does that work? who knows.
The day started out normal, feeding the babies breakfast, playing, cleaning, changing diapers. When Daniel got back from work he brought me flowers! then later at 6pm my whole family came. I had such a great time with all of them. My mom made Tamales!!!(which I am so greatful for because not only are they yummy but they are a hassle to make and she did it for me) My sister Karen had people email her letters about how they felt about me and she had them share stories about me, and then she made a book with all those letter on it and pictures. Thank you Karen! that was such a nice gift!! Thank you everybody who came over last night. By far the nicest B-day I have had in a long time, maybe that's why it felt more real. I had the love of my life Dan with me, my two adorable wild kids, my parents, cousins, sisters, brother, so many people. Also I want it to thank all those who send me cards in the mail :)

ps: I honestly think Danny thought it was a party for him. He was so happy.
ps ps: There are a couple more b-day pictures on my facebook. Gotta love that facebook.
